Aim Higher was part of a national initiative to encourage more learners from under-represented groups to participate in Higher Education. We worked with Aim Higher in the East and West Midlands regions, developing several websites, databases and applications to support Aim Higher initiatives.
One of these systems is the Aim Higher Learning Pathways System (ALPS). ALPS comprises a map of higher/further education provision across all subject areas in the Midlands. It holds details on every course available in the region and every course provider.
ALPS is targeted at IAG practitioners and students and offers user-friendly search functions that allow them to identify suitable progression options.
The national Aim Higher project was wound up in 2011 when funding was withdrawn. However the East Midlands service continues and we recently developed a mobile channel for the region to allow data searches and queries on handheld devices.
