It was also important for us to work with someone who really understands the needs of the arts/heritage and charitable sector."
The Bishopsgate Institute is an independent charitable organisation. Since its opening on New Years Day 1895 it has supported and provided for the local community. 'Bishopsgate Institute's vision is of a society enriched and informed through personal development and social learning opportunities.'
The Bishopsgate Institute is still thriving 111years later; over 3,500 students attend the 125 different courses on offer. The community programme provides financial and social support for local people, hosting 4,000 cultural events a year, a pensioner’s club and a grant award scheme open to organisations who help local people in need.
"Winona has given us a far better web presence than we ever had before and a fantastic basis for developing this even further. Bishopsgate Institute has a lot of diverse activities going on - adult courses, events, a library and a hall hire business - the site successfully draws all these disparate activities together."
The world renowned Bishopsgate Library has over 20,000 visitors a year to view the collection on the history of London, particularly the East End and the early Labour, Freethought and Co-operative movements.
"Winona have designed a site which makes it easy for people to access exactly what they want straight away, whether that is to search the courses, find out when a concert is on or read the description level detail of an archive collection. The site is accessible, well designed, and most importantly, user-friendly and intuitive." Quotes supplied by Alis Templeton, Marketing and Communications Manager, Bishopsgate Institute |
